Beschreibung
Two decades of research has established the zebra fish, Danio rerio, as a significant model system for studying vertebrate development and gene structure function relationships. The zebra fish, Danio rerio, has come to the forefront of biomedical research as a powerful model for the study of human disease. Initially prominent in developmental biology, the zebra fish has now been adopted into varied fields of study including immunology. In recent years, the use of the zebra fish system has been extended into studies in behaviour immunology and toxicology, retaining the concept that it will serve as a study model for human disease. The zebra fish with its remarkable immune system similarities to its mammalian counterparts serves as disease model of innate and adaptive immunity. We aspire to make this conference an event that will pave way for discussing the capabilities and potentials of the zebra fish model system. An overview of information on zebra fish infectious disease models will be presented.
