Beschreibung

With Poverty levels still biting in Tanzania, the government has encouraged entrepreneurship growth and development especially in the rural settings where poverty is at its worst. However this required financial assistance which more formalized institutions like Banks, could not provide due to their stringent policies aimed at minimizing risks. Thus the remedy then was to encourage the growth of microfinance institutions whose flexibility in credit operations made them tailor made for the vast poor majority with limited collateral. But before more effort can be concentrated on microfinance activities, it is of vast importance that the contribution of microfinance institutions be determined and areas that require improvement identified so that poverty can be stamped on in Tanzania. This book therefore provides up to date findings of the reality of microfinance activities practiced in Kibaha district and the strides achieved in the battle towards poverty alleviation.
