Recently, development aid has been growing in importance and the sums of money dedicated to it amount to billions of dollars. On the contrary, the idea of microfinance is to enable the poor to empower themselves, thus become financially independent. Bolivia is unique example of microfinance development that influenced many other countries. The aim of the book is to evaluate Bolivian microfinance sector when eco-political and institutional point of view is factored in and to make a comparison with trends in its neighboring countries. The book should be especially used to professionals in microfinance field, students of development studies and development organizations.
