Contract Management is a key area touching on business management, project management and supply chain management. It is one of the essentials to "make the world go round". It is increasing in stature as a profession and recognition at the C- office suites as a major contributor to the "bottom line" success. The field of contracts encompasses the commercial side of business supply chain areas as well as military operations from multiple aspects. Not only are the equipment and supplies affected by the purchasing profession but the securing of services as well on a wide range of areas. In addition, international laws, treaties and handling of disputes comes into play to encompass legal aspects in implementation of contracts enforcement. A working knowledge of related congressional legislation affecting the field of contracts is also required to become expert in the field.

Mary M. (Dickens) Johnson served as 1102 Contract Specialist for U.S. General Services Headquarters in NW Washington, D.C. from 1987 to 1994. Prior to that she served in other capacities for U.S. Department of Commerce (International Trade Administration),(National Telecommunications and Information Administration) and U.S. Department of State HQ.
