This book is mainly intended to assist those who are thinking about finding out more about karate and its health benefits. The calisthenic exercises shown within may assist those who want to start exercising or want to try something different. The karate dictionary at the end of this book may assist parents, whose children have started karate, and novices alike to become conversant with karate terminology. This book may be used as a reference or guide and can assist instructors to sell the good points of their dojo and the benefits of karate to prospective students. It is an experiential account of the writer's and other people over 40 who have started practicing karate and how it had improved their lives.

Joe Bracone is a 4th Dan Karate, a 3rd Dan Kobujutsu and was deputy instructor at the Benoni South Africa Honbu Dojo. Now relocated to Scotland he teaches karate, kobujutsu and holds regular seminars in goshin jutsu (self-defense).He holds a Master's and other various business and organization improvement diplomas. He is a CI Manager and Coach.
