Solving economic dispatch problems normally involved optimization process. So, new techniques are continuously being developed that result in a more efficient system operation. As a good global optimal tool, evolutionary algorithm (EA) is widely used in the recent past in many engineering fields. EAs differ from traditional optimization techniques in that they involve a search from a "population" of solutions, not from a single point. In this work, genetic algorithm (GA) is also used for optimization of economic load dispatch and the results are compared comprehensively with Classical Lagrangian Method (LMM).

Dr. (Mrs.) Sabita Chaine received the B.E. in 2005 and M.Tech in 2011. She completed her Ph.D. degree (Electrical Engineering) in 2017. Currently she is working as Faculty in Electrical Engineering in College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, India. She has about 10 years of teaching and research experience and has 10 publications.
