Beschreibung

Quadratic assignment problem (QAP) can be applied most various application areas such as facility location design, scheduling, statistical data analysis. Therefore this problem has been mostly studied by researchers. By now, researchers have developed many solution techniques to solve this problem. One of the most popular applications of QAP is single finger virtual keyboard layout problem. Smart phones and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) have acceleratingly developed to easily use technologies such as e-mail, text message. Newly, PDAs and smart phones use virtual keyboards to enter text document instead of conventional hardware keyboards. In this thesis, two-finger stylus keyboard layout is analysed for developing better keyboard layout in this new environment. QAP model for the problem which is developed by Mete & Agpak (2012) is linearized and genetic algorithm procedure is developed. Developed solution techniques are applied to find new virtual keyboard layout for Turkish language. The two finger virtual keyboard layout which is found is compared with F and QWERTY keyboards based on usability test, error rate, typing speed and learning factors.
