It is a technology of growing plants in nutrient solutions with or without the use of an artificial medium such as sand, gravel, vermiculite, rock wool, perlite, peat moss, coir and sawdust for mechanical support (Jensen, 1997).The word hydroponics has its derivation from the combining of two Greek words, hydro meaning water and ponos meaning labor, i.e., water working. The science of hydroponics proves that soil is not required for plants growth but the elements, minerals, and nutrients that contains are essential.
