Performance evaluation of a system which is unique has only some functions precisely output functions similar to the other existing systems which can be can be assessed by benchmarking. This benchmarking process is applicable to all systems for evaluating, how well the system is performing? In irrigation system performance evaluation is a challenge because of its diversity. Comparing indicators for benchmarking is sometimes insufficient as the parameters influencing the indicators are also to be considered for realistic benchmarking. The water resources analysts and irrigation water providers can apply this process for coming to appropriate conclusion for taking improvement action. Irrigation water management researchers can reprocess performance evaluation techniques using this.

R. S. Tatwawadi obtained Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from SGGSIE&T, Nanded and currently working as Professor and Head of Civil Engineering Department in JDIET, Yavatmal. He is having experience of seventeen years in teaching. His research interest includes Irrigation Water Management, Water Laws and Performance Evaluation of Irrigation Projects.
