Beschreibung

The term Productivity appeared for nearly two and half centuries. Nowadays, it is a murmur word where various media, professionals and politicians talk about it. The concept behind productivity is getting more out of the less resources and inputs used. Firms will be benefited from increased productivity in that increased productivity does mean increased profit and more wages for workers, more income for stakeholders and it ensures the availability of investible funds for the purpose of capacity expansion. Following the perception of its importance, different researchers and practitioners developed different productivity measurement and analysis approaches resulting more than 100 types of measurement models. However, the diversified use of the concept of productivity makes its application elusive and managers become reluctant and less enthusiastic to use it as a decision tool appropriately on their areas of work. This research, hence, focuses on the productivity analysis and production system modeling with the objective of defining and modeling an approach that enables production companies measure and analyze their productivity to increase global competitiveness at firm level.
