This book covers a comprehensive numerical and experimental investigation carried out on a single cylinder diesel engine with a view to enhance emission characteristics. The diesel engine is fueled with methanol-diesel blend; produces highly toxic nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission which is harmful for the environment. This investigation is an attempt to reduce NOx emission from a methanol-blended diesel engine by addition of water.The numerical simulation is carried out on commercially available AVL FIRE code while experimental measurements were performed on a locally available single cylinder diesel engine. The results have been presented and analysed.

Dr. Dinesh Kumar Soni graduated in Mechanical Engineering from R.G.P.V University in 2009, obtained Masters and Doctorate degrees in Thermal Engineering from M. A. National Institute of Technology Bhopal. His field of specialization is Internal Combustion Engines. At present, he is pursuing teaching and research career in AISECT University, Bhopal.
