This book includes the lecture notes in accordance to the curriculum of 3 year Diploma in Survey engineering course of Council for Technical education and vocational training (CTEVT) of Nepal. The curriculum of the course Year III, Semester VI, aimed at imparting knowledge about the concept, methods and importance of the engineering constructions (civil construction). There are 8 units covering systems of irrigation, river training, water supply, building, roads and engineering materials, estimating and costing. The rural water supply system has been dealt with more detail description than other units. The book may be useful for the students of engineering as well as the mid-level technicians.

Er. Kiran Darnal has 3 decades of the works experience as a civil engineer. He graduated from the then Leningrad Institute of Civil Engineering, Leningrad of the USSR in 1989, with Master of Science (Engineering), specializing in water and sanitary engineering. As an expert in water and sanitation sector he continues working as the consultant.
