The human foot is very complex. With 26 bones and many joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons, it isn't always ideally suited to weight bearing and getting around. Thats why proper foot care, and wearing the right socks and footgear is essential. In a lifetime, each person logs an average 70,000 miles on their feet. Feet sweat about 10-15 gallons per foot per year, and 5-8 gallons of that perspiration gets absorbed by socks. There is a variety of high-tech fibers used in socks today, many of which actually help wick away moisture such as olfefin or acrylic fibers. For those involved in athletics or who spend a great deal of time on their feet, our choice in socks can be a critical factor in avoiding foot problems in increasing comfort and performance. The book mainly deals with the basic fundamentals of sock technology and their applications in various fields including sports,medical etc.This has been divided into different chapters of sock anatomy. It starts from anatomy of Basics, fibre content, production, Quality Assurance, Product development, Certifications and defects of the sock. The brands and major retailers of the socks are also included in this book.

Graduated in Textile Technology (May,1997) from DKTE Society's Textile & Engineering Institute, India and did Master program (M.Tech-Textile Engineering) from IIT Delhi (December 1998). Worked in Textile industries for more than 10 years in different capacities like R&D executive, Scientific Officer (SITRA) & QA Manager. I am now with DKTE as a Faculty.
