A well designed product can fail by cracking if the weld rod selected results in the weld zone had lower alloy content than that of the parent metal. It is therefore, important to control the metallurgy of the weld metal in the quest to realize a quality weld with crack resistant property necessary to overcome premature failures arising from solidification cracking in austenitic stainless steel (ASS) fabricated components. Keeping the above in view, this thesis work presents the Effect of Electrode Type on Solidification Cracking susceptibility of ASS Weldment. It covers the effect of arc welding electrodes on the chemical and mechanical behaviour of the joint. It is expected that the recommendations made in this book will contribute to existing knowledge and be useful in design and practising metallurgists.
