Over the last few years, the use of dimethyl ether (DME) has increased exponentially as a prospective alternative fuel for a diesel engine. DME considered as the future cleanest fuel is produced from many sources( mainly methanol). In this book the production of DME is explained briefly accompanied by a detailed design for a real plant including material balance, energy balance, equipment sizing, cost estimation and HAZOP study.

Ahmed Magdi was born in Alexandria - Egypt. He studied in college Saint Marc and University of Alexandria where he successfully completed two degrees: a B.S. in gas & petrochemicals,and a M.S. in chemical engineering. He's working as Research and development process & design engineer and feasibility study expert in petroleum refining.
