Water is one of the earth's most precious and threatened resource. During the past few decades, pharmaceutical industries have registered a quantum jump contributing to high economic growth, but simultaneously it has given rise to severe environmental pollution. Many conventional and non-conventional treatment processes are available to treat wastewater produced from this industry. However, Nanomaterials have attracted much attention in recent years due to their unique properties such as high surface to volume ratio, improved conductivity, optical properties, and structural properties. In the present work, TiO2 and N-TiO2 nanoparticles are synthesized via a facile sol-gel technique. These nanoparticles were applied for the treatment of real pharmaceutical effluent using integrated process i.e., adsorption followed by photocatalysis.

Gurramkonda Neha Mallika is working as Assistant Professor on adhoc basis in Chemical Engineering Department at JNTU College of Engineering Anantapur since 2018. Neha completed her M.Tech in Nanotechnology from JNTUA in the year 2017. She is a recipient of Prathibha award as academic merit in Bachelor's and Master's degree.
