Materials Chemistry, a broad dscipline including hard and lightweight materials, bio-materials and superconductors, as well as the more traditional materials such as ceramics, polymers, and glasses focusing on the structure-property paradigm. Each class of materials highlights recycling techniques, and green methods of production. This book includes subjects on: defect structure, crystal structure, semi-crystalline materials, semi-conductors, superconductors, polymers, metals and alloys, bio-materials, ceramics, glass, lightweight materials and hard materials. An emphasis is placed on emerging subjects and discoveries throughout the field, as well as the possibilities of recycling of materials. The author examines all the relevant and newly emerging sub-disciplines within materials chemistry, without minimizing the already well-established subjects within the field. Materials Chemistry provides a broad survey of this field for those being first exposed to materials chemistry. It is useful to advanced students, as well as to professionals in the field.
Autorenporträt
Mark Benvenuto has been a professor of chemistry at the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) for 31 years. His background and training is in inorganic chemistry. He received his undergraduate education at the Virginia Military Institute, and his PhD from the University of Virginia. He is a Fellow of the American Chemcal Society, and has been awarded the UDM Science Teacher of the Year Award eight times.
