Beschreibung

Mastery of the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide and water to liquid fuels using renewable electricity can shed light on understanding the nature of artificial photosynthesis and offer an approach to mitigate the negative impact of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions on the planet. This book dedicates to an investigation of the electroreduction of CO2 on tin based electrodes and development of an electrochemical cell to convert CO2 to liquid fuels. This work provides the understanding of the chemistry of CO2 reduction reaction in the electrical double layer, the effect of surface structure on the tin catalyst activity and the mechanism of performance degradation. This work should provide a promising approach to mitigate CO2 emission, and should be especially useful to professionals in heterogeneous catalysis field, or anyone else who is interested in utilizing electrochemical/photo-electrochemical methods for energy conversion.
