It is applicable to the substructure design of the new construction and expansion of all classified highways. The substructure in this book includes the whole parts of highway trapezoidal cross section. That is to say, it is generally referred to as general facilities, not only the subgrade, but also the slope protection, drainage, and retaining wall are included.

Wanping Wu is Professorial Senior Engineer of the CCCC Second Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. He mainly focuses on roadbed and pavement engineering technology. He presided over the completed more than 20 professional surveys and designs for highway subgrade and pavement, presided over 6 science and technology projects of the Ministry of Transport, edited 3 regulations of the Ministry of Transport, and participated in the compilation of 2 national standards and 4 regulations of the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development regulations. He has won 1 first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 5 provincial and ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards, 5 excellent survey and design awards of Ministry of Communications, obtained 10 national patents and software copyrights, and published more than 30 academic papers in core journals.
