This book is written for the research project of assessing the situation of solid waste management at one of the highly populated ward in the Dar es Salaam city known as Vingunguti Ward. The book covers the general solid waste management problems faced in many developing countries including Tanzania. Apart from those problems this book also highlights the possible engineering solutions which can be adopted to solve solid waste problems. Also the book covers engineering design approach for new solid waste management ways to be considered in other areas. The materials are useful for college students, high school students, even the lecturers in environmental issues.

Ghanima Chanzi was born at Kibaha, Pwani on November 19, 1989. I am a Masters graduate in Water Resource Engineering from University of Dar es Salaam (2017). Currently, I am working as Assistant Lecturer at Water Institute where I do different researches in water and environment and also teaching.
