The research work gives the awareness on the environmental impact due to the municipal solid waste management.Based on the quantity of wastes collected in the city, the design of the temporary storage is environmentally assessed. This study assists the waste management organizers to select the appropriate waste management system in MSW management options.The future research work can be carried analyzing other environmental indicators such as depletion of abiotic resource, impact of landuse, ozone depletion, human toxicity, acidification, photo-oxidant formation etc. and also social and economic indicators from the generation of MSW to till disposal for efficient and integrated waste management.

Dr. (Mrs). A. VELUMANI, having Twenty years of teaching experience, currently working as an Associate Professor, Civil Engineering, Avinashiligam University for Women, Coimbatore. She is also serving as a member in various committees in the University. She has received the "Best Engineering College Teacher - ISTE Periyar Award" in the year 2012.
