CdMnTe detectors are now the most important detectors, It work in room temp with out cooling and has good resolution Cadmium manganese telluride is a diluted magnetic semiconductor material, which forms the basis for many important devices such as IR detectors, Solar cells, magnetic sensors, optical isolators, and visible and near IR lasers.For wide-gap DMS, such as Cd1-xMnxTe,Cd1-xMnxSe,ect., crystallographic studies indicate that single phase regions -either zinc blende or wurtzite-exist over wide ranges of x, all results to date suggest that in those regions of solid solution, the band-gap is always direct.
