Beschreibung

Energy plays a vital role in the development of any country. In the context of energy crisis in recent years, solar energy is one of the prominent renewable energy sources that can play a vital role in the energy sector in the coming future. Although crystalline solar cells have shown high efficiencies, solar cells developed using thin films offer many advantages over the crystalline counter parts. Although the existing polycrystalline thin film solar cells based on CdTe and CuInGaSe2 are giving good efficiencies and are commercially available in the market, however, they involve materials that are toxic or rarely available in earth's crust. Hence, investigations on novel and new materials that are abundant, less toxic and environmentally safe to handle with better properties are important. In this direction, Sn and S are two elements that exist in stable form, suitable for solar cell application. This book deals with synthesis of Sn-S films by a simple and economic technique, chemical bath deposition, followed by discussion of results on the analysis of these layers. SnS2/SnS heterojunction solar cell was developed to demonstrate the photovoltaic potential of this structure.
