Understanding variability and unpredictability of wind power is essential for improving power system reliability and energy dispatch in transmission and distribution systems. The research presented herein intends to address a major challenge in managing and utilizing wind energy with mitigated fluctuation and intermittency. Researchers and graduate students conducting wind power integration and power variability studies could find this text helpful. Grid planners or wind farm owners might be interested also.

Yichuan Niu was born in Inner Mongolia, China. He received his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in 2009 and his M.E degree in Power Electronics and Electric Drives from the Tongji University in 2012. He was granted the Ph.D. degree by The University of Texas at Austin in 2015.
