In the present book Cryogenic Vacuum Engineering and Technology - Achievements and Prospects general data concerning the Universe, Cosmos, Time, Temperature, Vacuum, and Cryogenics are briefly and popularly narrated together with short biographies of outstanding researchers, whose names have been commemorated in these directions of science. The principles of action of cryogenic vacuum pumping devices - condenser and sorption type pipes with liquid helium and nitrogen, as well as solid nitrogen, as a coolant are detailed. The design and technological features, photos of the operating cryogenic vacuum pimps are given, as well as the theory of their calculation, the results of pilot research and performance figures. The role of adsorbents in cryogenics and utilization of cryogenics in research and applications are considered. A helium cryostat for investigation of superconductors and the role of cryogenics in medicine is discussed. The prospects of the utilization of cryogenics in power engineering, space research, different engineering processes and other important for mankind problems are set out.
