Buton Island growers using traditional methods to calculate the best time to plant early in the season. Engineering calculations using the Islamic calendar and correlated with the state of the tides. The calculations have become their knowledge. In this case local knowledge is not part of a strategy to avoid climate change but to adapt to it.

Burhan was Born at Kaongkeongkea, Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Author completed in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Haluoleo University in Kendari taking Physics Department in 1999-2004. The author then post-graduate study at UGM concentration Geophysics Physics Science Program for 2007-2009.
