The colour of the tooth plays an important role in the beauty and personality of an individual. The most frequent reasons for seeking dental treatment or care are discoloured teeth. Esthetically motivated patients are more likely to undergo routine preventive dental care and realize the value of keeping their teeth healthy. A basic understanding of the elements of tooth colour is important for many aspects of restorative and aesthetic dentistry. Dental practitioners should have an understanding of the aetiology of tooth discoloration in order to make a diagnosis and enable the appropriate treatment to be carried out. In this book, we discuss the various methods and approaches to successfully improving the colour of teeth including whitening toothpastes, professional cleaning, internal bleaching, external bleaching, microabrasion and the placement of crowns and veneers.

Dr.Saurav Paul is a final year post graduate student, currently pursuing his Masters in Dental Surgery in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics from Rama Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre, Rama University, Kanpur. He has completed his Bachelors in Dental Surgery from the Institute of Dental sciences, SOA University, Bhubhaneshwar.
