Beschreibung
Multinucleated giant cells are commonly observed in wide spectrum of lesions of oral cavity. They may be characteristic for the lesion or exist just as a reactive process, related to the elimination of microbes or foreign materials. Although, various theories have been put forward to explain the genesis of the multinucleated giant cells, the exact mechanism still remains enigmatic and interesting. A definite criterion to identify individual giant cells in any giant cell lesions however is required to assist the clinician and researchers for proper diagnosis and management.
