The most distinguishing feature about ideal faces is that they are well proportioned and symmetric in every aspect. If the future maxillo-mandibular divergence pattern of an individual can be predicted, it may lead to correction of the vertical discrepancy during childhood via growth modification and avoidance of later orthognathic surgery. This is the first extensive work which evaluated the association of maxillary and mandibular angular parameters with atlas vertebra.

Dr. Hafiz Taha Mahmood is currently working as a Chief Resident in Orthodontics section at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. Dr. Mahmood has keen interest in the evaluation and utilization of adolescent growth for the management of skeletal discrepancy of the maxilla and mandible. Further, he has published content on this topic.
