Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) presents as a separate C-arm to conventional computed tomography (CT) and it has gained broad acceptance in dentistry in the last 5 years as it generates 3-dimensional (3D) data at lower radiation dose and cost and a higher spatial resolution than conventional CT. The advent of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) has revolutionized the practice of dentistry, and this technique is now considered the gold standard for imaging the oral and maxillofacial area.
