In Africa which is a home for many livestock species, recently there is an increase in demand for veterinary service, especially veterinary surgeons and this book will inspire a young surgeons who needs to handle different minor and major surgical cases and do research based on minor and major surgical conditions, management's and outcomes in pastoral areas where modern surgical facillities is not available and can be used as a guidelines for surgical cases compilation and documentation. Surgery lays heavy demand on space, equipment and personnel proficiencies for patient management and could be used as an index of high profile clinical veterinary practice especially in poor resource settings as obtained in many developing countries of Africa and Asia. Although, surgical procedures are the best means of treating certain health conditions such as neoplastic growths, fractures, rumen foreign body, congenital problems like atresia ani and urocystolith. Managements of such surgical conditions, methods employed and the associated outcomes were systematically studied and documented in this book.

Ahmed Hasan is assistant professor at Jigjiga University (JJU). Studied DVM, at Jigjiga University, Masters of Vet. Surgery at Addis Ababa University. Worked at Somali Regional State Livestock and Pastoral Development Bureau and currently he is a coordinator of One Health Tropical and Infectious Disease in School of Graduate Studies, JJU, Jigjiga.
