This book is a medical scientific book that sheds the light on some translational points of view, to improve the clinical outcome of the practice of the ex-vivo perfusion lung transplantation. The book discusses some molecular bases of the ischemic reperfusion injury, to which the lung graft is exposed, and provides suitable and applicable recommendations to interfere with those molecular bases. In addition, the book provides a short concentrated clinical review of the bilateral lung transplantation surgery, the associated immunosuppression and the state of the art of the ex-vivo perfusion technique.
Autorenporträt
Dr. med. Mohamed Shehata is a medical researcher with MBBCh, MSc and MD academic degrees. Dr. Shehata gained good experiences in many directions of the basic and the clinical medical research, including bone marrow transplantation, cardiology, cellular polarity in renal epithelial cells, cellular cryopreservation and thoracic transplantation.
