Soft tissue sarcomas presented a treatment dilemma because of the high rates of recurrences and deaths observed post treatment. This occasioned the need to undertake a specific study, with specific objectives, to find out what was primarily responsible for the bad outcomes. From the results of this study, it is possible to come up with a paradigm shift, in the treatment protocols, right from the outset to the post treatment periods with an aim to improve the outcomes. The study was based on the general observation that treatment of soft tissue sarcomas at Kenya's largest teaching and referral hospital, presented enormous challenges and high rates of recurrences.
