Beschreibung

Pain is one of the main reasons for seeking health care in the emergency services and it is a reality with which nurses deal daily. As a vital sign, systematic monitoring is recommended in order to enable early, individualised intervention for the patient's well-being. There are many barriers faced by nurses working in an emergency room when monitoring pain. This is a quantitative, exploratory, descriptive study aimed at identifying the barriers described by nurses in the sample in pain monitoring. From the data exploration it is possible to reflect on and propose personalized intervention measures, with a view to appropriate pain management and maximizing safety, quality of care and quality of life of the person in a critical situation, family and community. The continuous training of nurses is an important way to build and consolidate scientific, technical, ethical and relational knowledge in this specific area of nursing care, allowing the availability of these professionals for awareness.
