A structural change in diameter of arteries involves reorganization of both cells and extracellular matrix components. This process is known as vascular remodeling. Remodeling of arteries is associated with common vascular pathological conditions such as hypertension, myocardial infarction, stroke and cerebral hemorrhages. This book includes nine chapters in total focused on the components of artery wall; specifically function of smooth muscle cells and the role of contractile plasticity of smooth muscle cells.
Autorenporträt
Bilge Güvenç Tuna was born in Ankara, Turkey. She studied Physics at the Middle East Technical University. She obtained her PhD degree at the Biomedical Engineering and Physics Department, Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam. The results of her PhD project as a Marie Curie Fellow are presented in this book. She has two lovely daughters.
