The goal of this handbook is to provide an overview and detailed information on current advances in analytical methods employed for monitoring novel psychoactive substances (NPS) in clinical and forensic laboratories. This handbook explores aspects of new NPS testing methodologies, including targeted and untargeted analysis of novel groups of substances (synthetic cannabinoids, cathinones and opioids, among others), NPS in alternative and postmortem samples, and identification of new metabolites of NPS.Forensic and clinical toxicologists, pharmacologists and chemists in academic and research settings, as well as in private laboratories, will benefit from this book. The book will describe the state-of-art methodologies for a wide range of novel psychoactive substances in different biological samples, employing screening and confirmatory techniques, and new metabolites identification.
