Ezekiel O. Mecha studied at the University of Nairobi obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry in 2000 and a Master of Science in Biochemistry in 2007. He worked as a graduate assistant at the Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, University of Nairobi. In his masters project, he investigated the role of natural killer (NK) cells in HIV infection and Clinical progression to AIDS. In 2010 he obtained a DAAD scholarship to pursue a PhD in Reproductive Biochemistry at Justus-Liebig University, Giessen whereby he is characterizing TGF-beta signalosome and TGF-beta-dependent endometrial cell proliferation with a view of identifying earlier diagnostic markers and discovery of appropriate intervention strategies of endometriosis.
