The World Health Organization has defined menopause as the permanent cessation of menstruation resulting from loss of ovarian follicular activity. The transition from active reproductive life to inactive postmenopausal produces a wide range of effects on a womans behaviour and psyche, resulting in somatic, vasomotor, and psychological disturbances, which constitute menopausal syndrome. Unfortunately, treatment strategy of menopausal syndrome in Modern system of Medicine has been to replace the deficient oestrogen. This strategy of hormone replacement has got alarming physical hazards. Therefore, search of safe and effective drug for its management is quite necessary. In Unani system of medicine, Unani formulation is being used for the management of menopausal syndrome from the plant-derived oestrogens or phytoestrogens. The availability of the effective and safe natural ingredients will make it a new natural-human relationship for ameliorating menopausal symptoms and improving quality of life.

She is working as Research Associate in Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi. She has also published couple of research articles in scientific journals.
