Laparoscopic surgery is becoming the routine approach for most surgical procedures. The skills required for this kind of surgery are different from those required in the traditional surgery. Thus, surgical trainees should be familiar with these skills and master them before they complete their training as it will be their daily practice. This booklet provides you with an overview of laparoscopic surgical skills regarding their acquisition and assessment and highlights the role of simulators, skills courses and workshops in developing theses skills. Also, it provide you with a basic practical research study about assessment of the laparoscopic skills using the simulators.

Awarded MRCS & FRCS from Royal College of Surgeons. Worked in NHS as senior clinical fellow in subspecialties of general surgery. Interested in laparoscopic & academic surgery.
