Livio Luzi, M.D., is Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Milan and is the Director of the Department of Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases at the IRCCS MultiMedica, Sesto San Giovanni, Milan, Italy.After receiving his medical degrees from the University of Milan, Prof. Luzi completed his research fellowships in Endocrinology at Yale University and in Diabetes at the University of Texas Health Science Center. From 1993-1996 he was on the faculty of Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School as an Assistant Professor, before returning to Italy. Prof. Luzi was also Adjunct Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami.The clinical activity of Prof. Livio Luzi takes place in the Endocrinology Department and under the Ambulatory activities at the IRCCS MultiMedica. The clinical scientific activities conducted by Endocrinology Department concern the pathophysiology, the research for innovative therapies and the evaluation of current diagnostic procedures for type 1 and type 2 diabetes, obesity and metabolic diseases. Furthermore, special attention is also paid to the study of cardiovascular, metabolic and bone complications in patients with these diseases.
