Agriculture ranks among the most hazardous industries. Sugarcane workers and farmers are at very high risk of work related musculoskeletal disorders and is one of the few industries in which family members (who often share the work and live on the premises) are also at risk for fatal and non-fatal injuries. The physical demand of the farm work which range from moderate to heavy, often include standing, squatting, bending and reaching, carrying heavy loads and working for long hours, may cause certain hazards to the person. Author of this book leaved in area which is well known for Co operative sugar factories. Asia's first Co operative sugar factory was started in pravanagar a area which was under research for work related musculoskeletal disorders. Sugar cane workers suffer with multiple musculoskeletal injuries because of repeated tasks like cutting, bending, lifting and throwing. Hence this book gives a details of prevalence, management and prevention strategies for WMDs in sugarcane workers.
