Beschreibung

The present is an evaluation of the LALGFAOP protocol on 147 children distributed in Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo and Senegal. This study shows that childhood ALL is present and in constant increase in these regions. The age at initial diagnosis is 6.3±3.9 years with a mean at 5. Complete remission is 79% at D33 of Induction. Deaths at induction phase are at an acceptable level for this protocol of 7.48%. Toxicities and complications during induction were: - Severe hemorrhagic Syndrome: 22/142; - Infectious Complications: 23/142 and Septicemia: 8/142. After complete remission the high rate of death occurred among relapsed patients. Disease Free Survival and overall survival were at 18 and 24 months: 62% CI= [50%; 73%] and 62% CI= [49%; 76%] respectively. This protocol was well tolerated and constitutes a treatment basis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. A second step to be put in place will be the stratification phase based upon Immunophenotyping risks; together with cytogenetic that will make possible a risk stratification of patients and provide adequate treatment protocol.
