Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has revolutionized the treatment of cholelithiasis. However, substantial portion of patients in whom laparoscopic cholecystectomy cannot be successfully performed are converted to open. There is a need to identify factors that predict the need to convert as it would provide short-term benefits in terms of patient education and post operative expectations. This book is aimed at evaluating factors compelling conversion of laparoscopic cholecystectomy to open procedure and to assess the complications in converted cases, if any.
