This congress volume compiles the contributions of the Bone Innovation Summit as well as an overview of current research results in the field of orthopedics and traumatology from the last three years. The Northopedics, BONEBANK and BFCC projects, launched three years ago, focus on improving fracture treatment in northern Germany, the Danish-German border region and the Baltic Sea countries. The projects address the different perspectives of patients, physicians, clinics, researchers, industry and regulatory authorities on improving fracture care. The overall aim of the projects is to foster innovation through register research and to improve the funding conditions for research projects. In addition, a number of approaches for the harvesting of stem cells for therapies were evaluated and concepts for new medical devices were developed.
