The first 1000 days of life from conception through the first two years of life is a window of opportunity for growth and development of children due to the profound positive effect optimal nutrition have on the developing child and a damage sustained during this period is often permanent. Infant and Young Child Feeding information delivered by family member and health service providers should be strengthened; this is because mothers who had information about what to feed her child indicates better practices; especially on complementary feeding practice and continued breastfeeding up to two years and beyond. Mothers and care takers need to get Infant and Young Child Feeding related information. The policy makers need to come up with Infant and Young Child Feeding that would reach the mothers in the community with practical Infant and Young Child Feeding intervention especially during initiation of complementary feeding and breast-feeding.
