Epithelial chimerism after allogeneic cell Transplantation has been first described by the end of the 20th century, Holding promise of a medical revolution. However it was then strongly criticized as a pseudo-phenomenon of minor importance. This work provides undisputable evidence of existence of epithelial chimerism in isolated single cells and discusses possible significance in biology and medicine.

Dr. Yannis Metaxas studied Medicine at the University of Athens, Greece and did his specialty in hematology/oncology in Athens and in Freiburg, Germany. His main interest lies on basic research and clinical trials, where he has published several articles.
