Incidence of Epilepsy is highest in the elderly population(age>65 years). These patients present with focal onset seizures most often,with less prominent auras and automatism and prolonged post-ictal confusion. Status epilepticus is common and has high mortality rate. Cerebrovascular accidents constitute one of the most common etiologies of epilepsy in the elderly population. The cause of epilepsy may not be found in many patients.
