This manuscript describes the HIV epidemic in Malaysia over the past 3 decades, the efforts taken by the country in curbing the infection and some of the success stories along the journey. The Ending AIDS by 2030 concept and Malaysia's achievement on the fast track 90-90-90 target are discussed. The challenges faced by the country in achieving Ending AIDS by 2030 are elaborated in length, and this include challenges related to testing, retention in care, viral suppression, issues among the key affected populations. and issues related to stigma and discrimination.
