Providing post abortion family planning is one of the most effective strategies to reduce future unplanned pregnancies and prevent repeat abortions. Individualised counselling with emphasis on long acting reversible contraceptives or permanent methods for those women not intending to conceive soon or not at all respectively need to be adopted as there are many perceived benefits of long term methods in preventing future unwanted pregnancies.
