As the human population is continuously growing and worldwide demand to maintain a healthy and lengthy lifespan is consistently increasing, the need for solutions to organ damage resulting from illnesses and accidents is rising. In the last century, great efforts and investment have been made to find cures for damaged organs. Although no ideal solution is on the market at the present time, scientists are optimistic that in the near future some emerging treatments will become established, and revolutionize the available bioengineering technologies and widen the treatment options. This book consists of 10 chapters which document the current progress and perspectives in the field of biomedical engineering, focusing on the development of tissue engineering in organ transplantation. The book is dedicated to several sectors, mainly medical engineering, research, and biology, but also to a varied audience that could benefit from this notable and updated information on the biomedical area.
